Flamingo Fluff is an original acrylic painting on a 10 by 8 inch gallery wrap canvas.
This the first painting I completed in 2017! I enjoy painting Flamingos as they are so interesting and have so many unique poses.
I chose this pose to paint because the bird was preening and the plumage was fluffed out, hence the source of the title of the art work. This pallet is fairly easy for the bird. The warm colors cover the full range from red light to red deep, some aliz. crimson and magenta, and earth tones to calm the brights. I like to use Payne's gray as my black and some red and green to make my browns for the background.
I started with a light sketch of the major components of the image, but as the work proceeded paint covered the lines, and I was on my own with a reference photo. My rendition of the bird came out pretty close to the physical attributes and turned out believable. Flamingo Fluff has sold.
I hope you enjoy my art work and blog.

Heron in the Marsh, An Original Painting
Heron in the Marsh, Original Acrylic Painting by Jimmie Bartlett, 10 by 8 inches on gallery wrap canvas
This Blue Heron has been hanging around in my photo files for too long and finally got him on canvas. I put the heron in an entirely different setting than in the picture I took several years ago. I like compositions that have a strong focal point and foreground with lots of distance in the background. This fellow lives in the marshes around Matagorda, Texas.
As always, my paintings are available for purchase and prints are available from me and other online websites.
Merry Christmas,

American Eagle, an original painting
The eagle is a raptor, bird of prey and I have wanted to paint one for a long time. My bucket list of subjects to paint is filling up faster than I can empty it.
The eagle's eyes and beak are captivating. I chose to paint only the head for a small format painting to take to shows. I got a high quality scan of the painting and should be able to run large format prints from it. I paint with detail even on the small paintings in order to make enlargements.
The original has Sold. Contact me if you wish to purchase prints. Prices start at $20 for 8 by 10 inches. The copyright water mark will not be on your painting or prints.
God Bless You and Family,

Cheetah, An Original Painting
I completed the Cheetah painting today. Hurrah!
This painting really challenged my abilities as an artist. I could keep refining and correcting little stuff forever because I am made that way, but we have to stop at some point. Cheetah is a bright painting in a setting of sunlight with some greens.
The spots drive a painter crazy when painting fur. Mine tended to move during the creation because of layering and losing track of what I was doing! LOL
I think the Cheetah has a nice smile here. Also, they are among the fastest animals on earth. My painting was not fast at all. I want to thank my good friend Gary for the use of his photo for reference. He is an excellent photographer.
Prints are available on paper and canvas. Contact me if interested in the original or prints.

Inspirational Signs
Joshua 24:15
added 09/17/2016
I painted several of these type of signs for shows. The crackle paint was very popular around the turn of the century. The lettering is by hand on the Bless This House sign where as the As For Me and My House are done digitally.
Above are a two more signs grandparents will enjoy!
The first sign I made today and the others several years back. I hope you like the change of pace on the blog. I still make signs for our arts/craft shows when not at the easel. I plan to add more sign art to this blog, so check back to see them. Thanks for taking a look.
Blessings,
Completed yesterday on crackle finish. Lettering and artwork is by hand. The flowers are done with double blends and quick strokes before the acrylics dry.

White Egret Basking in the Sun, An Original Painting by Jimmie
White Egret Basking in the Sun is an original acrylic painting on a 18 by 12 inch gallery wrapped canvas with edges painted black.
What do you think about it? Do you think of the wind blowing through it's feathers and the brightness of the mid day? I hope so, as that was the inspiration I had during the work. My reference photo had great movement for painting the bird, but the background was drab and typical, so I used a portrait approach to add more color and interest. Seabirds are very interesting to watch. This little guy was standing on one leg with the other lifted high up out of sight posing just for me.
I hope you enjoy my blog and if you wish to purchase prints, please email me. The original painting has sold.
