Little Hungry Bird

Photography Prints
The closest identity I could find in my bird book for this little guy is a "Bay-Breasted Warbler". We have a lot of these working our feeders in our yard. Some have more color than others. They are a busy body little creature and entertaining to watch.

If you can find a more specific identification of this bird, send it to me in the comments section or my email.

Much Appreciated,

Heron in the Marsh, An Original Painting

Heron in the Marsh, Original Acrylic Painting by Jimmie Bartlett, 10 by 8 inches on gallery wrap canvas

This Blue Heron has been hanging around in my photo files for too long and finally got him on canvas.  I put the heron in an entirely different setting than in the picture I took several years ago.  I like compositions that have a strong focal point and foreground with lots of distance in the background.  This fellow lives in the marshes around Matagorda, Texas.

As always, my paintings are available for purchase and prints are available from me and other online websites.

Merry Christmas,

Fancy Tail Rooster Original Oil Painting

Fancy Tail Rooster
Fancy Tail Rooster
Fancy Tale Rooster is painted in oils on a 18 x 14 inch gallery wrap canvas with edges painted.

I took a picture of this guy several years ago and figured he would look good on a canvas.  Several challenges were offered by the reference photo.  I didn't like the drab back ground and the lighting was not the best, but it is hard to get a rooster to stand still and pose for the perfect photo.  The colors also needed some dressing up.  Since, I finally succumbed to using a very dark brown for the background, the black tail feathers were rendered in nice greens to make them stand out.  Hence, the name Fancy Tail Rooster.  He is available for sale on the below website.  Prints are also available in various sizes.

I like the way the fuzzy short white feathers turned out.  Hope you like the painting!

Little Beach Bird, Original Oil Painting

I finished the second painting of the bird on the beach.  I like to paint groupings of related subjects and plan to add more to the sea bird list.  Sounds like an excuse to go to the beach and marshes for pics and inspiration.  Hope you like the painting.

Two Flamingos, Oil Painting 20x24

I finished "Two Flamingos" last week.  It is painted realistically on a 20x24 inch canvas.  It took about three months working on it along with other paintings in progress. I used a photo submitted by Lady Carol in the wetcanvas.com image library for artists as my reference.  Many thanks to her and wetcanvas.

I hope you like the painting.  Contact me if you are interested in purchasing it.

Flamingo Oil Painting

I finished this long legged guy today.  A really fun painting.  Brights against dark backgrounds are great.  The Flamingo is in oils on a 20x16 gallery wrapped canvas with the edges painted for hanging without a frame.  The paint is still wet, but the painting should be dry to ship within several days.

I wish you a happy new year and great opportunities.

Let us pray before we paint,
