Sunrise Over Matagorda Bay, an original oil painting

Sunrise Over Matagorda Bay is an original oil painting 24 inches by 48 inches
(Note that there are no man made objects in the painting!)

I finally got a good picture of my newest painting today and I changed the name to Sunrise Over Matagorda Bay.  (Check out my previous post of the work in progress of this painting).  I changed the name because during the painting sessions, I was thinking back to the many fishing trips my friends and I had on Matagorda Bay.  When out on the water, with the sun breaking through the darkness, one cannot help but feel the excitement of a new beautiful day being born!

Rockport Sunrise Oil Painting

Rockport Sunrise, 30 by 40 inches, Gallery Wrap Canvas

Rockport, Texas is an awesome place for painters.  The beautiful water is filled with wildlife, boats, docks, and sea birds.  I was inspired to do the painting of this marvelous sunrise while we were staying at the Beacon RV Resort.  (Carolyn and I were doing a show at the SeaFair Festival)  The RV Park is right on the bay front drive overlooking the bay and their pier and shrimp boat.  (Great RV Park!)

Rockport Sunrise is my largest painting to date and I plan to do more.  When we are staying near the coast, I try to get up before sunrise and take pictures.  Sunrise/sunsets are fascinating!  The light is changing rapidly and is a rare opportunity to capture a "one and only" moment in time.  That particular morning, the wind was up and showers forecasted; hence, the palette for beautiful colors projected on the clouds and water.  I tried to paint the scene the way I experienced it that morning using photos for reference.  No camera or painter can ever capture the perfection of the sunrises God gives everyday; and, I thank my Lord for giving me the ability to try and paint it.

Fishing On The Flats, Original Oil Painting

Fishing on the Flats, 12 x 16, Oil on Gallery Canvas w/edges painted
$400 plus S/H/appl. taxes

Fishing On The Flats is a painting capturing one of the beautiful sunsets God gives us everyday.  The joy of getting to fish in one of these remote spots is shared by many fisherman on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.   I love to fish, but I think I enjoyed painting this scene more than going fishing this week.  Many Thanks to my friend Rockey for letting me use his photo for reference.  I can paint a favorite fishing memory for you.  Email me for information.

Hope your like the painting.  Now let's go fishing!

God Bless You,

Yaquina Head Lighthouse Oil Painting 20x16 Inches Canvas

I finished the Yaquina Head Lighthouse painting today.  The lighthouse is about 90 foot tall to tip top, the light is at 81ft above ground and 162 ft above sea level.  It is a magnificent tower sitting high on a cliff overlooking the sea.  I want to express thanks to my good neighbor Gary that gave me some great pictures from their vacation for reference material.  The sky and the lighthouse is painted with a more realistic smooth brush strokes and the cliff foreground has texture with an impressionistic look.  The painting is 20x16 on stretched canvas and done in oils.  I hope you like it.  Email me if you are interested in purchasing this one or any of my other paintings.  Those that have sold are usually in print.

Let us pray before we paint,
